Finlay and I are off to the cottage.
We are leaving tomorrow and will be back on July 5th.
He will be having a Feeding Study at Sick Kids on July 6th to confirm if he has dysphagia.
We've started him on an antacid to help with reflux and he's also taking Senokot and Lactulose for constipation. The GI doctor has threatened us with a G tube if Finlay doesn't start packing on some weight and cuts down the time it takes him to eat...he's SOOOO slow! We will do absolutely anything to avoid the G tube so it'll be extra butter and whipped cream with everything! We see the GI doctor again on September 26th, so send us FAT thoughts!

Finlay's new sound is BABABABABABA and he continues to make zerbert noises wherever he can. He's working really hard on stacking blocks and is a real wizard with the stacking rings now. Just this morning he was sitting in front of the TV stacking rings without even looking at what he was doing! Too cute.

    Week of June 11th

Finlay had a great week. He had OT and PT this week and we got a bunch of new exercises to strengthen his legs. We've decided that we are going to hold off on the stander for now and really work on his legs and we will revisit the stander if it's needed somewhere between 18 and 24 months. Hopefully it won't be needed.

Grammie Janet was visiting June 8-11th and she babysat while Mom&Dad went to the movies. Finlay got to spend lots of time with her and we all went over to Zia Angie's and Zio Geordie's for dinner for Finlay's first visit. Finlay loved Zio's big TV! Zio taped Dr Phil for Finlay to watch...it's his favourite show cause there's lots of clapping!

Finlay saw the osteopath on Friday (9th) and she had him using a ride-on toy, pushing a mini shopping cart and then she put him on the treadmill. He LOVED it! It's a little cumbersome with the AFOs on cause his shoes are so big (to fit over the AFOs) as he has to pick his feet up so high. It's like a pigeon walk. The PT thinks that he will only need the AFOs at that height for another month or two and then we will trim them down closer to the ankle. The PT that fit him for the AFOs is confident that he won't always need the AFOs but may just need an orthotic in his shoes. That's great news!

Cousin Mac had his Birthday Party early this year. His birthday is July 4th, but we celebrated on June 17th. Finlay and Mom went to aunty Yo's for a couple of days before the party. Mac had a magician come perform for his party and the magician levitated Mac for all his guests! It was the best part of the show. Ruby was sick for our visit with a cold, ear infection and bronchitis. Even though she was not herself, she was crawling all over the place like a pro.

Finlay must have caught Ruby's bug cause he woke up this morning with a fever of 38.5. He's been sleeping all day and is very lethargic and floppy. Hopefully all the rest will help him recover. We had to cancel our Father's Day BBQ with Grampie Bruce, Zia and Zio, cause both Finlay and Mac are not feeling well. We will reschedule for next weekend or maybe this week.

    Week of May 29th

Finlay cut another tooth! The top, middle, left side finally broke through all the way.

He's been butt scooting all over the kitchen, but of course he goes backwards till he gets himself in a corner.

We (Davina and Mac) went to the Shaw festival this weekend and saw 'Arms and the Man'. It was fabulous! We stayed and the South Landing Inn in Queenston and drove in to NY to go to Target. Finlay stayed with Grampie Bruce and Diane...his first sleep over!

Finlay had a busy week...OT, PT, AFOs fitting, Dietician, swimming, Ashley. We skipped playgroup this week just in case the baby with whopping cough may still be contagious (incubation period is up to 21 days).

We have finally gotten an appointment to go to the Dysphagia clinic at Sick Kids. The apt. is scheduled for July 4th, but we are on the cancellation list, so we may get in sooner. Hopefully we will get some answers to all our feeding difficulties.
